Show How Studio singing lessons online with Zoom

This fall, Show How Studio will provide Second Sunday Masterclasses for students who take private lessons. With many performing opportunities cancelled, as well as limitations on music and theater in schools, masterclasses are a free, fun and collaborative experience to help students navigate these difficult times. Now more than ever, performers need to be reminded that they are not alone and that we are in this together.

What are Masterclasses?

Masterclasses are learning opportunities in which students examine specific topics within their area of study. Unlike private lessons, masterclasses provide an opportunity for discussion and interaction among students. Each month’s masterclass will be focused on one topic that is relevant to private lesson students. These include topics related to technique and craft, technology and its impact on performing, performer health and wellness and theater as a community of artists.

Where will they take place?

Masterclasses will take place through virtual meetings on Zoom. Meeting links will be sent monthly to students who have booked regular private lessons. Zoom provides opportunities for students to meet and interact with each other in a safe environment.

Why 'Second Sunday'?

Masterclasses will be held on the second Sunday of each month this fall. They will begin at 7:30 pm and will usually last around 45 minutes. Our goal is to provide a monthly check-in and an opportunity to learn and grow together as a studio. However, this should be an accessible activity requiring minimal time commitment.

Do I have to attend?

Students taking weekly or bi-weekly lessons are highly encouraged to attend masterclasses. When it is not possible to attend, a recording of each masterclass will be available for students to review. Aside from additional training that is relevant to their private studies, the social and communal aspect of this activity is especially valuable. Students will get to know each other, learn from each other, and recognize commonalities among their collective journeys. There is comfort and enjoyment to be gained from sharing these masterclass experiences with each other.

What do Masterclasses cost?

Masterclasses are offered free to students who schedule regular lessons with Show How Studio. Students taking lessons either weekly or bi-weekly will be sent invitations to masterclasses each month. We are offering masterclasses at no additional cost because we want these experiences to be as accessible to our students as possible.

How do I participate?

In order to participate in masterclasses this fall, you’ll need to first schedule regular (weekly or bi-weekly) lessons. Students can book lessons for either in-person or online servicing to get access to masterclasses. Each month, Show How Studio will determine which students are booked for regular lessons and will provide those students with the Zoom link for the month’s meeting. Book your lessons today so you don’t miss a masterclass.
